 About Haslemere Methodist Church

We are the 'Community Church on the High Street' that serves Haslemere, Hindhead, Beacon Hill, Fernhurst and all surrounding villages.

The church has been meeting on the present site since 1972. It is blessed both with a warm, caring fellowship and extensive multi-purpose premises. We invite you to come and see what is going on and to share in all the church's activities

The Sanctuary is available for prayer and quiet reflection during the times that the 'Open Door Lounge' is open.

Sunday Worship starts at 10am in the modern worship area at the back of the building and ends about an hour later. Services are varied and thoughtful, with beautiful singing led by a gifted choir. Holy Communion is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

  • Services are a blend of the traditional and modern, being led by a Minister or Local Preacher from the East Solent and Downs Methodist Circuit.
The congregation values the opportunity to mingle and to chat afterwards over refreshments.

Time to Talk is a 30 minute informal discussion held once a month after Sunday worship where thoughts emerging from that Service are shared. Often further insights are gained.

The 'Open Door' lounge is busy every Tues, Wed, Fri and Sat from 10am to 12 noon. Coffee, tea and biscuits are served --- with home-made small gifts also available.

+  This is a perfect place to meet up with your friends and also where you will find a  'listening ear' and support should you wish to talk something over.

+  For information about our activities / events, pick up a copy             of the latest newsletter  --- that's always worth reading!

'Manna' is a half hour mid-week service followed by a homely lunch [no need to book] on the first and third Wednesday of each month in the Wesley Room starting at 12.30.

Manna is ideal for anyone who has difficulty getting to a Sunday Service and who might otherwise be on their own.

Deepening faith:  As a church it is important to us to provide other opportunities to get to know one another, to study the Bible and to pray together. We also arrange periodic courses and discussion sessions.

First Friday is a ministry of hospitality in the home of two of our members that is arranged on a monthly basis. After a meal together, conversation turns to discussion of the bible reading for the following Sunday's service.

Pastoral care:  A support network covers the whole church, together with a prayer-chain for emergency situations.

Carers' Network is there to support anyone in the local community who cares for somebody who depends on them. Pick up practical 'Tips for Carers' from the tray on the coffee bar; see Michael Hydon for contacts and further information.

Special community events --- both large and small

Keep an eye open in the local press and monthly magazines for news of things happening at the church.

A series of high quality events including concerts is offering great variety and supporting future development. Additionally, other charities now benefit from 10% of the net proceeds from our major events. Buying advance tickets in the Open Door Lounge is recommended because we are attracting near capacity numbers.

Other events include fund raising for the local branch of charities such as Macmillan, British Heart Foundation and Action for Children. Come along to add your support and enjoy some delightful experiences.

We have excellent premises on two floors with full disability access and a lift. Many other Haslemere groups find these ideal for their activities too. All areas of the building are available for hire at very reasonable rates.

Contact 01428-604850 for enquiries and bookings.

Current User Groups: Lollipops Nursery; Kumon; Bridge Clubs; Weight-Watchers; Dance Classes; U3A; Grapevine; Rock Choir; Ladies Group; Care in Haslemere; AA; Jubilee Church; Pilates.   There is room for more at certain times.

Haslemere Food Bank

With the other Churches in the Haslemere area, we are pleased to support the Haslemere Food Bank. We act as a collection point for donations of food. If you would like to donate food, there is a plastic container for donations in the Open Door coffee area, together with lists of current needs.

+  If you know someone who might need help with food, please advise them to go to one of the referral agencies, e.g. the Citizens Advice Bureau, their GP, their child's school, a social worker or one of the churches. The agency will provide the necessary referral form which gives further details.
