New members welcome
We are currently around 20-25 ladies attending meetings. We warmly welcome new members, - not just wives but ladies of all ages or status.
Our year 2014-15 began as usual with a ploughman’s supper in September. During the year we have enjoyed hearing a variety of speakers: representatives told us about work of the Salvation Army, and later on the Rosemary Foundation - hospice care in the patient’s own home. Dot and Philip Warren talked about their trip to rural Ghana, and Dot demonstrated the bead jewellery she makes. Practical sessions included making Easter flower decorations, as well as entertainment with a film evening, a quiz evening, and a cheery sing-along with Ellen-and-Friends. There was much hilarity when we played indoor “curling” in the upstairs hall, so much so that the event is to be repeated later this year.
The programme included several trips out, such as to the theatre in Guildford, a dinner at the Wheatsheaf, and a visit to hear about behind the scenes at the local ice cream parlour. Our regular highlights were the annual carol-singing at Home Green, joining in the church Maundy Thursday supper, and our summer walk which ended of course with fish-and-chips.
The current year’s programme is in full swing. Just come along; even if you are on your own you will always quickly find good company. Meetings are advertised in the church magazine and on the notice-board.
